Florida State star wide receiver Johnny Wilson has officially accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, per the Senior Bowl’s Twitter/X account. Despite being a redshirt junior, the Senior Bowl now does allow non-graduate juniors.

With Wilson entering the Senior Bowl, this likely confirms that he'll be moving on from Florida State to the NFL. He'll finish his time with the Seminoles Florida State with 1,514 receiving yards on 84 receptions and 7 touchdowns. He became Jordan Travis’ go-to receiver at times, establishing a quick on-field connection that was effective.

Wilson was second on the team in receiving yards this year, just behind Keon Coleman who will also likely go pro, but missed three games due to injury. He was first in yards in 2022, with twice as many yards as anyone else.

As frustrating as some of Wilson’s drops were, there’s no doubt how talented he is, with a massive 6’7” and 235-pound frame. With that kind of size, he can go up over anyone and come down with it, much like he did to beat Louisville in 2022 with Tate Rodemaker in at QB.

It’ll be interesting to see if NFL teams view him more as a possible tight end with his size, depending on how he tests at the NFL Combine. He moves well for his size but it’s doubtful that he’d run in the low 4.5s like teams would like to see. He’s absolutely best used as a wide receiver who has better-than-expected short-area quickness and obviously, a red-zone threat.

It remains unclear if Wilson will play in the Orange Bowl against Georgia.
