Panthers have clear and simple criteria for players the team is looking to add moving forward

Heading into the offseason, the Carolina Panthers needed to get better.

For newly-minted general manager Dan Morgan, that meant making the Panthers' logo feared again.

But what exactly did that look like? Well, it turns out the answer was quite simple.

"We want those passionate, hungry, the dawg mentality, passion for the game, love of the game. That’s kinda what we’re looking for,” Morgan said. "We want guys with height, length, speed, all those types of traits. But, at the same time, if they don’t have that dawg mentality, they don’t have that passion for the game, they’re not gonna be able to reach their full potential. We really gotta filter those guys out and be thorough with everything we do.”

Through that filter, trading for a wide receiver like Diontae Johnson makes sense. So does adding two big guards in Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis.

Adding Jadeveon Clowney on the defensive side of the ball gives the Panthers a high-risk, high-reward defensive playmaker.

Then there is the question of the draft. The Panthers are sure to use a similar filter for players Morgan and company are targeting with pick No. 33.

Morgan recently said "nothing" was off the table. He meant it, as long as he finds players who are to reach their full potential.
